Appendix B — What changed
For everyone
The guide grows with the app. Each edition is listed here, newest first, with what’s new in it, so you can see what to read again after an update.
B.1 Guide 0.1, for Jholok 0.1
The first edition: the whole app, for people using it for the first time.
- The ideas behind the app: stock, units and value (Chapter 1), the ledger (Chapter 2), and counting and checking against it (Chapter 3).
- Everyday use: setting up the shop and its people (Chapter 4), the catalogue (Chapter 5), recording what comes in and goes out (Chapter 6), and the Overview (Chapter 7).
- Counting: a count from start to finish (Chapter 8), counting boxes by their tags or a photo (Chapter 9), and identifying pieces later (Chapter 10).
- Checking a count: book stock (Chapter 11), stock off the shelf and the cut-off (Chapter 12), Review (Chapter 13), and the Result and the count report (Chapter 14).
- Looking after your shop: backups and privacy (Chapter 15), and stories from a shop’s year (Chapter 16).
- The Questions and answers and the Glossary.
It already covers two recent changes to the app:
- Single earrings. An earring found without its pair is added with Singles on the count sheet, beside the pairs, and never changes stock (Chapter 1, Chapter 8).
- Units kept apart. The Overview never adds pairs, sets and pieces into one number of “items”: it gives values, or lists each kind (Chapter 7).
